Sport England’s Together Fund is supporting a Telford-based activity provider to deliver sessions for people with disabilities. The dance and movement classes, named Boundless, have been supported with funding towards the cost of equipment, hire of a larger venue and promoting the sessions – all enabling more people to attend.

One of Arty Party’s challenges, as the provider, has been finding a suitable venue location to enable more people to attend, balancing the increase in costs of hiring a larger facility with being able to attract more participants to attend to make the project viable. So far, 15 participants have benefitted from the improved classes and larger facility hire. The aim is for sessions to be sustainable to enable more people with disabilities to attend the sessions.

Naomi Middleton, Arty Party Arts Coordinator said:

“Boundless has been able to go from strength to strength thanks to the funding provided by Sport England via Energize.” 

Naomi continued:

“We were able to use the money to find a larger venue and to promote our sessions with appealing promotional posters. This helped us secure a larger group which will support to sustain the offer. We’ve also used the funds to provide instruments such as djembe drums, rain sticks and also a giant parachute to promote further group work and creativity.”

Arty Party has grown considerably from being located in Telford to now being available across Shropshire too, not only for people with disabilities to attend but also to provide respite activities for carers and families of disabled people.

Three words chosen by Arty Party to describe their experience so far of delivering the Boundless project are: “Vibrant, Creative and Friendship”.
