News News Elevate participants helping Shropshire's Warm Welcome hubs Some of our Elevate strength and balance class participants have been busy knitting items for visitors to Warm Welcome hubs across Shropshire. Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens and blankets have been handmade by Elevate participants who have arrived early to their class or stayed later to knit and natter. This has provided them with a warm space and a chance to socialise which works hand in hand with those who are visiting Warm Welcome hubs to socialise in a local space, sometimes with the provision of a hot meal. Christina Morgan, Live Longer Better Manager at Energize STW had this amazing idea and has said: "It has been so heart-warming to share my idea with Elevate class participants and receive such enthusiasm from them to make and donate items. We are so grateful to everyone who has been knitting and crocheting for those in need." Christina, pictured far right, has recently visited Meole Estate Community Centre in Shrewsbury to hand out some of the knitted items. "Visitors to the Warm Welcome Hub were so pleased and grateful for the donations. Some took an item to keep themselves or grandchildren warm and one lady took a blanket for her grandmother who is recovering from cancer treatment."
