Celebrate National Walking Month with Energize: Embrace the Benefits of Walking for Physical and Mental Wellbeing

May is National Walking Month, and Energize is encouraging people to lace up their walking shoes and join in the celebration of the joy of walking and its incredible benefits for our physical and mental health.

Local Walking Festivals: Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin have two fantastic walking festivals this month for everyone to explore. From the Whitchurch Walking Festival from 10th to 12th May featuring various scenic walks, to the Telford Big Walk Week from 27th May to 2nd June, where you can discover trails in your local neighbourhood and connect with nature.

Walk to School Week: From 20th to 24th May, families are encouraged to participate in Walk to School Week, an opportunity to ditch the school run and enjoy the benefits of walking. Last year, over 365,000 pupils across the UK took part.

Join the Movement with Living Streets: Be part of the movement to create safer, healthier, and more walking-friendly communities with Living Streets. Visit their website to learn more about their initiatives and how you can make a difference.

Local green spaces:  Shropshire Wildlife Trust hosts the 'Let's Go Outside' guide showcasing nine local green spaces enabling people to spend more time outdoors experiencing natural environments. Each location has a free downloadable route, instructions on how to get there, accessibility information, and details of what you can see and do.

Walking isn't just great for physical activity; it's also a wonderful way to boost mood, reduce stress, and connect with nature. Let's step into May with a commitment to our health and wellbeing, one step at a time.

Why not join Energize in celebrating National Walking Month and try to embrace walking for a healthier and happier lifestyle in May and beyond?
